Many will want information about the beers from the tiny country known to the world as the Czech Republic. This area has a long history of brewing beer and has introduced a number of nationally known beers such as Pilsner Urquell &
The Czech Republic has built their beer empire on the back of lager beer. So while checking out beer from this area you can be sure you will be getting a lager. You may find a couple brewers who make ale or two but other than that most Czech beers are lagers.
Czech Beers are measured by the percentage of sucrose in your solution (Wort) measured on the Plato (or Balling) scale. This means that if your beer rate is10 degrees then if your extract is 100% sucrose then a 10% beer would be the total weight.
The most common of Czech beers is the 10 degree or 12 degree lager. This is a light beer, which is less filling than most lagers. It has a mild bitterness and a balanced flavor. You can also get this light beer in a dark lager which is a sweeter lighter beer with a coffee or chocolate taste. To get the dark beers you will have to visit one of the restaurants at the brewery that makes it.
Aside from these typical beers you will also find a number of Czech beers are specialty beers. These beers are made primarily at the smaller brewers and are a lot more rare. These specialty beers can be Wheat beer, Honey beer, Half-Dark beer and super strong beer which require the drinker to enjoy something different with their beers.
